Relay South Carolina will relay Directory Assistance (DA) calls between TTY users and the Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) DA operator. Once the caller makes the request, the relay operator will contact the appropriate LEC DA operator. After obtaining the number, the caller may choose to place the call through Relay South Carolina or dial it directly TTY to TTY.

  1. Relay User types dial 7-1-1 and informs Relay Operator that he wants to call for Direct Assistance. Then he types his conversation to Relay Operator.
  2. Relay Operator then read the typed conversation to Direct Assistant.
  3. After Relay User typed "GA", Direct Assistant in turn talks to Relay Operator.
  4. Relay Operator types Direct Assistant's messages and TTY User reads the message on the TTY screen.
